Ohio Gap Analysis and Planning Tool

The Ohio Gap Analysis and Planning Tool was developed to assist districts in assessing their current teacher evaluation system. A series of questions have been designed to lead you through the various components that comprise a robust teacher evaluation system.

The components are divided into six Guidelines that were developed by the state and a team of stakeholders and that align with the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System Framework. You will be asked to respond to a series of questions for each Guideline. After you have finalized all responses, you will receive a final report for each Guideline indicating the stage in which your current evaluation system falls (Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3). The report also provides next steps for your district and questions to consider to support your district in meeting the Guidelines.

In order to ensure consistency across respondents, a glossary has been developed to assist in defining terminology. If you need assistance with the definition or, simply click on the “glossary” hyperlink located at top of the webpage. Furthermore, some of the questions reference “new” and “experienced” teachers - the definition for “new” and “experienced” is whatever your district uses. If you need to leave the Gap Analysis and Planning Tool before you have fully completed all of the questions, you can log-off and complete it at a later time.
